Our Story

Democracy Prep at the Stewart Campus launched operations in August 2018 in partnership with the San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD).

P.F. Stewart Middle School has a long legacy of serving students and families on the southeast side of San Antonio. Rich in history and tradition, our neighborhood boasts many community assets such as Comanche Park, South Side Lions Park and the Schaefer Library among many other jewels of the southeast side.

P.F. Stewart was the Superintendent of the Bexar County schools at the turn of the 20th Century and was known for visiting schools throughout the country in his horse and buggy.

Democracy Prep and SAISD are working in partnership to ensure that ALL students are prepared for success in a college of their choice and a life of active citizenship. Democracy Prep is providing all academic programming on the campus while SAISD will still manage operational supports on campus (such as food services, transportation and facilities).
